A day before the introduction of a genetically engineered growth hormone designed to boost milk production in dairy cows, some of the country’s largest food companies and distributors took measures yesterday to restrict the use of the animal drug.

Among the companies moving to keep their dairy suppliers from using the gene-altered drug, the first important product of agriculture biotechnology to be used to produce food, were the Kroger Company, the nation’s largest supermarket chain, the Southland Corporation, owners and franchisers of 7-Eleven convenience stores, and Pathmark Stores Inc.

TOKYO, Friday, Feb. 4— Facing the harshest personal attacks of his tenure, Prime Minister Morihiro Hosokawa suffered a humiliating blow this morning when he was forced to abandon a plan for a $55 billion cut in income taxes and an even larger increase in sales taxes after three years.

Ichiro Ozawa, the strategist behind Mr. Hosokawa’s increasingly frail coalition Government, brought the governing coalition back from the brink of a split when he said at a news conference that efforts to find a compromise tax plan had failed and that the coalition parties had decided to start over.

Is Wal-Mart good for America and  Should it come to NYC?

it is not good for the city and anyone that likes it and want to buy in it go to another state where they have and is legal.Yes, it is true Wal-Mart provides a lot of small stores inside one, gives people a lot of offers and many cheap prices, but what we don’t know is that Wal-Mart takes advantages of small companies and destroy them. For example, Wal-Mart buy products from a company and if that company doesn’t follow Wal-Mart’s rules it can just take that company out of business. Also there are a lot of stores that depend on this huge company. In addiction, this store buys products from poor countries where it didn’t cost anything to make them and then sell these products in their stores and make profit. They take advantage of these poor countries. So, what would you want? Do you agree that other stores close because of Wal-Mart, a store that maybe your neighbor owns or maybe you.n New York  poor neighborhoods are more likely accepting Wal-Mart in their community because of their lower income they need low prices and more jobs. It is true this stores offers a lot of low prices, but what happens with other stores and its workers.

Sin Nombre

ALTRUISM: is when you sacrificed yourself to save others. One example from the film is when Casper, knowing that they were looking for him to kill him, stayed behind to help Sayra reunite with her family and pass the frontier.MORAL DILEMMA: this is a situation where you have two options and you only can choose one. An example of moral dilemma in this film is when Smiley have to decide whether to kill Casper or not. If he don’t kill his “friend”, the others members may kill him, but if he does if will gain the respect and will be allow to stay in the gang. At the end he chose to kill Casper.EGOISM: is when you do something thinking only in yourself. In Sin Nombre we were able to see this when Casper’s “aunt” let the others members of the gang know where he was. She was scared that they may do something to her too, so she told them.
